The rock band Josephine plays a dynamic hybrid of ultra melodic post-punk and roots rock. Fronted by the dual vocals of quirky singer songwriter Sarah White and punk legend Michael Bishop, the band do-si-dos organically from graceful acoustic simplicity to shit-kicking honky tonk and back again to driving, punk-inspired hard rock owing as much to the Sex Pistols, Minutemen and X as Wilco, Son Volt, and PJ Harvey.

The current rhythm section of drummer Ed Trask and bassist Michael Bishop were the core of the seminal Richmond post-punk trio Kepone. Trask later played with Richmond punk giants Avail and in another life, Bishop was the bassist for theatrical rockers GWAR. Guitarist Charlie Bell was a long-time member of popular Americana group the Hackensaw Boys and is a sought-after sideman for acts such as Charlie Louvin and J.P. Harris and the Tough Choices.
